Do You Want My Free Wings?

Do You Want My Free Wings?

February 23rd, 2026 by Brody Campbell

We Sat Outside Wing Stop For 24 Hours. In the cold. In the rain. In the hope of getting free wings for a year and this is what I learned.

  1. You should probably arrive prepared. At 4pm on Thursday when we arrived I showed up with no gloves. Planning on nothing other than crossing my arms to defeat the elements. We were lacking layers. And if it hadn’t been for both our wonderful partners brings us extra supply’s I’m certain we would have not survived.
  2. Never give up on the tent. At 8pm we tried to set up a tent and it was too windy and we didn’t know what we were doing so we gave up. But at 1am we tried again and me and dope both agree it’s the only reason we survived. The wind had died down and we decided to give it another try. If we hadn’t got that tent up we would have been out on the rain for hours. Some other people also had a tent and at around 9am when it wasn’t raining they made them take their tent down because it was blocking the side walk. It started raining again an hour later and they got rained on for several hours. Our tent was small enough to fit between the bike racks so we got to keep ours up. I don’t think we would have survived without it.
  3. Having a distraction doesn’t wonders. Obviously around the studio as creators in the modern world we’re “content minded” we set out with doing hourly updates. Which moved back to every 90 minutes (90 minutes is what me and the internet has decided is the closest timeline you can post on instagram without negatively effecting the previous post.) Over the course of the night I was able to film and edit 13 videos. My fingers were frozen and I think at some points is was almost too windy to set up the tripod. But I think the distraction is having something to do and doing it within the time restraint made it much more doable. I don’t know if I would have survived without that distraction.
  4. If you speak about things in past tense it gives you motivation to complete it. All throughout the night we kept saying “remember that time we stayed on king William all night” “remember that year we ate so many wings” I think when we kept referring to it as this fun time we had it made it easier to complete. I used to use this when I was trying to kick a bad habit. Rather than saying “I am trying to stop doing ____” you think about it as “I no longer do that.” It’s not something you’re trying to do. It’s something you’ve already done.

I asked Dope what he learned for the experience. And he said “It definitely is cold related,. Whatever I learned has to be about the cold… I learned that…. fuck what did I learn. I learned what it felt like to truly be cold inside. I’ve never felt cold inside like I felt cold inside that night.”

Now we have all of these free wings to eat. And I’d like to share the wing wealth and treat a lot of Hamiltonians to lunch. Let me know if you’d be down for lunch (and an interview) Terms and conditions do apply*

*T&C’s you get to order a 6pc combo and you must be willing to be interviewed, recorded & on camera.
